23-year-old Artemas from Oxfordshire, UK, has been making music since the age of 16. His journey beginning shortly after watching the documentary "Montage of Heck" about Nirvana's Frontman Kurt Cobain, which sparked his initial interest in music. Even sending him into a Nirvana phase for a short time after. Since then, he has been on a path of self-discovery and creativity, finding solace and excitement in making music.
His latest single, "I'll Make You Miss Me," took shape over time. Originally written over a jungle beat, Artemas later realized its core essence as a sad melodramatic ballad and decided to strip it down. The creative process for him involves bouts of frustration and experimentation, leading to moments of clarity when everything falls into place. He takes pride in producing everything himself, tapping into a unique energy that drives his music.
Throughout his musical journey, Artemas has been influenced by a diverse range of artists, starting from Nirvana, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beatles, and Rod Stewart, to contemporary artists like Bruno Mars, The Weeknd, and Frank Ocean. He also notes that Aries has also been a significant influence in his journey as a producer thus far.
Moving forward, Artemas feels he is onto something unique with his latest creations. He believes that his music is now a reflection of his influences, creating dark, and beautifully melodramatic anthems. His goal is to build a world around his music that it truly deserves, and he is still in the process of realizing that vision.
Reflecting on his beginnings, Artemas wishes he could tell his past self not to take things too seriously too soon. He has learned to be more comfortable and happier with his music-making process, allowing himself to experiment and create without the pressure of perfection. There will never be a perfect moment, and he decided there was no reason to keep waiting, especially when not many were listening yet.
