Artist Highlight: Brendan Bennett

Brendan Bennet is a star-studded 22 year old out of Naples, FL who has procured his own sound, learning from some of the best of Southwest Florida's own like Dominic Fike, Nate Traveller, Capi, and more. "I'm a rapper at heart", he tells, aligning himself with the hip-hop genre primarily and his music is a wondrous examination through sound waves of Brendan's thoughts and life's tales. He transmits a collection of funky sounds employing cool instruments like bass guitar, drums, tambourines, and we're here for it all.

His influences played a major role in his growth and progression as an artist/songmaker, but the success he has created thus far is undoubtedly in the easy-going flows of his ballads and trendy aesthetic which often resonates with most. He's not afraid to put his soul into the music which we certainly get into a bit more of in his latest release, but Pop Tracks & Love Songs, his debut album back in 2018, certainly laid the foundation, hosting a very sonically pleasing soundscape featuring tracks like "3am in Chicago" featuring the talented @eddyrock239, which has nearly 3 million plays on Spotify & "Skeletons" with virtually 4 million!

Aside from those he’s had the pleasure to work with and under, Isiah Rashad like another previous artist we’ve covered is a top influence for Brendan. So much so that Rashad is the artist of which he sees himself the most in from a visual standpoint. “The way he writes his shit and presents himself, it’s so human, and a lot of the emotions he expresses and the things that he’s been through I feel like I relate to a lot."

Through the making of this most recent project, DID I DREAM THIS LIFE OF MINE, Brendan experienced a bit of a strayed sense of being, speaking to how the project served as a integral part in reasserting himself: “On some real sh*t it was almost like I was fading away, and making this project felt like the only way to cement myself again” Brendans vulnerability on this album is commendable and certainly something that has resonated with his fans preceding his second album.

When he’s not making music, he is the essence of a “regular dude”—drinking with friends, networking, and finding the pleasures in the day-to-day. Being in his birthplace of Boston with family has promoted his advancement in a number of ways as he's been able to link up with artist @bensbeendead whom he also manages and they've created some great stuff you'll see...or hear on the album! It's great to see him doing better as an individual, but his story further serves precedent to the miracles music can create.

"A lot has changed since 2018. It's more vulnerable, for sure. It feels so much more like (Brendan) to me. The last album was cool and I’m very grateful for it, but I think I was so focused on making something sonically great that I lost my sense of who I was and what I wanted to talk about. There was less of a vision there. But then these past three years kind of forced me into some serious self-reflection, and I think you can see it in the new project."
