Artist Highlight: Buppy.

Small town teen and artist, Buppy, has made large strides in the industry with his solemn, almost sad-boy aura. At only 18, he’s amalgamated his own sound, one that he feels can’t be classified. Early on he ventured into craftsmanship—designing clothes, streaming, and along came music.

His experiences stand near and dear to his music as he warbles  of his journey up unto this point, sorting all that’s happened on tracks of heartbreak, comedy, confusion, and fun. Growing up in Park City, Utah, he mentions it was beautiful and normal and while there weren’t many local artists to look to, Buppy decided to fill the missing puzzle piece.

Evolving into a jack of all trades in a sense, his music purports that mesh of musical fabrics. Having bounced around the ends of hip-hop/rap, pop, alternative, Buppy offers a nice variety of sounds for a broad audience. “Open My Letter” became his biggest song to date, boasting over a million streams on Spotify.

Cold Nights In Hollywood , Buppy’s debut EP, released August 12, a project that he holds of great value, aside from being the first.“Cold Nights In Hollywood is essentially a time capsule that contains all the stories of my last year and a half. The time since I moved to Los Angeles. Each song is inspired by a story/emotion that I felt in real-time." The namesake single is a beautiful opening featuring a soft guitar strum and what sounds, or even feels like rain as he remarks his change of location to the City of Angels, hasn’t quite filled every void—“Hollywood is still cold, I feel pain and I get lonely when the night slows”.

“Another Day” featuring Nevi, in contrast, caters to the trap-pop or house fans with electrifying sounds, spirited bass, and other clusters of cool EQ. Not to mention the very cool laundromat scenes in his home state of Utah, shot by his good friends at RipDaydream (Anthony Palmer directed/edited)—go check the video out on YouTube.

In the meantime, Buppy has been listening to revolving sounds, but a few to name include Bickle, Junior Varsity, and Haich Berna. Stay tuned for possible touring and more music from the astounding artist that is Buppy!
