Born and raised in southeast London, Cikho is an 18 year-old artist who is quickly establishing himself as a rising artist to watch. His funky R&B and vibrant indie-pop sound evokes notes of artists like Steve Lacy, Malcolm Todd, Kaytranada, and Thundercat. "My sound is colorful and exciting—it’s fizzy, like, an explosion of fun," says Cikho.
He started making music just three years ago, in 2021. He reflects on his initial inspiration: "I
remember listening to Steve Lacy’s 'The Lo-Fi’s' album, and that literally changed my whole
perspective on music. It was perfect because those were the types of songs I wanted to make." That was a very pivotal moment that led him to discover his new sound and leave behind earlier influences such as Playboi Carti and Lil Uzi Vert.
On July 5th, Cikho released his very close to heart single, ‘YOU GOT IT’. This song tells a
relatable story, capturing emotions of love and vulnerability through a captivating melody. “I
wrote ‘YOU GOT IT’ about my girlfriend, but I think it can relate to everyone. You see a beautiful girl, you finally have her, and you have fully given her your heart. Your emotions and feelings are deeply involved and you’re scared that you could lose her, but you’re also happy you finally have her,” Cikho explains.
