Devon Again is an imaginative soul with a heart of art. Born and raised just outside of Denver, Colorado, the 21-year old paints her animated, fun, pop-enthused pictures, that now cater to over 100,000 people on Spotify. Her debut title “Suburbia”, a funk-filled experiment with her harmonic voice, attracted many, having boomed after teasing it on social media.
Since young, she’s dreamed of performing in front of crowds like her then idol (Hannah Montana) and she’s well on her way as the pop sensation has curated a powerful start with 5 singles dating back to last year. In her free time, she enjoys all things tastefully artistic and simply creating, mostly music.
Her latest single “Head” released in mid-July; a subtly explosive pop track, featuring intimacy, clusters of sounds, and a great breakthrough feel. It is masterfully produced , the lyrics are impactful and tragic, and prevails as one of my personal favorites of hers thus far. Devon had this to say regarding the song:
“I really wanted make something that felt as captivating as “High” [song by Slow Pulp] which is what inspired starting “HEAD” really soft and intimate and letting it explode for a second, come back down, and then build and build ‘til it kinda felt like it was overflowing.”
Referring back to her artistic mind, she hosts a handful of wonderful visuals that can be found on her YouTube page. “Sh*tty People” is an illustrious one, directed by herself & Jake Weinberg, set in the scene she has since come accustomed to, living in Los Angeles. All of her videos though, carry this fun-loving theme with props and all sorts, to which she spoke about the creative process:
“I am really inspired by Tyler, The Creator, Amine, and virtually anything directed by Dan Streit. I’m a big fan of anything a little silly so normally when coming up with concepts I will just start In a brain storm of really absurd ideas and dial it back until it feels a little more digest-able.”
