Kicking the new year off, drama trial joins the catalog for their digitized composition of shrills and thrills. drama trial presents a unique understanding—while their identity remains unknown, they’ve gone on the record stating: “drama trial is me, i am drama trial, and a lot of people are also drama trial.” So maybe there’s a bit of drama trial in all of us? Nevertheless, they are a brilliant talent with a knack for synthesis.
(re) was a stylish end to 2022–trial’s concluding EP. Pushing themselves past their artistic bounds, they attempted to drop a song daily which is how (re) was derived. The 6-song project is impactful enough to further explain just who drama trials might be. “I made it in a week and a half with each song getting a day to be made and released the next day—(re) is supposed to signify just that, starting over/again”
It’s got some of that Jersey club feel in “restart” which recently caught momentum globally and always provides for an exhilarating/moving sound. "reason" in tandem with artist jauntsen is all over the place and detonating as well. A unique feature to this setlist is all the songs begin the same, but increasingly faster as you progress the tape.
Features and fraternizing isn't in the sights of theirs at the moment, although they do love doing so, nevertheless like many, they appreciate the intrinsic value in naturalism.
Their first cohesion as they collaborated on “Say you’re in love”, a robotized smash with 4cf, dating back to the end of last year, off of their self titled EP, drama trial. That body of work caters to a lot more of the collaborating side of trials with other features like leyton, Yazida, swazy*, and more.
They have sought much inspiration throughout this process though, having made music for some 9 years now and growing up in the Midwest (to our understanding). "I was always intrigued by Monstercat and artists like Skrillex and Pegboard Nerds. I wanted to make music just like that, but nowadays my inspirations are underscores and jane remover (and many more but i feel like those are the main ones)." All of whom have helped them realize it's a marathon in this artistry, not a sprint! drama trials has since realized nothing need be rushed or perfected, besides patience.
Their latest outset is another concise project, yet lengthy title I kind of adore: i’m going to The Restaurant, do you guys want anything? They dropped this project January 6, 2023—their first of the year. It opens with a euphoric and serene soundscape. All of it is so alluring and easy on the ears, almost like that of ASMR personified into a song. This project also doesn’t feature any vocals as trials continues to extrapolate their sound and crash course new ideas. They mentioned the devotion to their DAW (digital audio workstation) over the course of the past few years and while it’s consumed a lot of time and not left much for others, the progression is imminent as is the obsession.
