He embodies the swagger and glitz that his music symbolizes. Gracing the streets of H-Town being a full time-student getting it done academically all the while making time for his true passion in the arts. “Heartfelt tunes” is the aesthetic Ejay has ran with, elaborating on the romanticism of life; the ups, downs, and the climb.
Trap Soul was a recent experience artist Bryson Tiller offered to us and I feel like Ejay is carrying the weight of that notion. He is refreshingly R&B, recreating a lost art with his Houston ‘playa’ spin examining the vices the city has to offer. He’s a direct byproduct of the city and it has influenced his sound in a number of ways as he’s made a way. The melodies and consistency of his tales are that of a lovestruck player or hopeless romantic.
Healium is his first studio project since his 2019 debut of Traumatized!. It’s a new sound and approach to music comparably, but interconnected in a way that resonates with the lovers of the world. “Equipped with an entirely new sound, more mature flow, and amazing production, this album really allows me to tell the story of my healing after being set free following a very traumatic relationship – hence the name of the album.” The project features a number of artists and was heavily Influenced by the great Kanye West’s “MBDTF”. It can be revealed in the patters and arrangements but it remains true to his Northside roots.
His music definitely boasts the soul that helps us get into this Thanksgiving spirit at that. Ejay is hoping to grind out features coming into the New Year, working with other artists and refining collaborative pieces. “My goal for 2022 is to really hone in on features so that’s what my primary objective is going to be going into the new year especially across like Texas artist.” With faith driving his career and the will to win, Ejay is bound for success.
