Artist Highlight: Girlish

Having first met each other in the 6th-grade band, now a full circle with this fascinating presentation of what they would describe as “indie-pop”, Girlish is breaking ground as a duo out of Florida. Alex Perdomo and Kevin Moody (both 24) are the two of which the group consists, clashing genres of rock, pop, folk, R&B, etc. With their new EP "Evergreen" in the works, Girlish is full steam ahead.

Some influences that have led to this point include, but aren’t limited to Dominic Fike, which one can certainly pick up, but also Michael Jackson & The Beatles. As one can tell they’re well versed in music history and utilize so to their advantage. Having such good musical taste, it almost seems second nature for them to coincide, not only feeding off one another’s thoughts and voices but in the harmony of the music, simultaneously. Not to mention they have some brilliant cover art as displayed throughout their catalogue.

“Too Shabby”, their latest release, is an amazing soundscape all around, from the voices to guitar to the shakes. Paired with a super pleasant visual and their cadence carries pleasurable weight. The song channels some inner realizations: “you ruined people for me”.

Keeping the train rollin’, the duo has been looking to make waves in 2022 with some more music, plus an EP they gave us some info on:

“Our upcoming release is our EP titled “Evergreen”. It covers a lot of ground as far as subject matter goes, but overall we talk a lot about moving forward. Some songs focus more on the future of relationships, whereas other focus more on the future of our personal growth. The process of making “Evergreen” has been very fun!”

Expect the project to be filled with detail and intricacies along with some special guests whom they hold near and dear. “Evergreen” drops Friday, April 29, so be sure to pre-save that and check it out when you get the chance. Hanging out in LA (their new home base) in the meantime, they’ve been able to really hone their craft and lock-in. Optimally, some features will come down the road but for now this rocking duo has each other and that’s all the people need at the moment.

Their lasting note: “Be vulnerable, have fun, and nothing is too precious.”
