Beginning early on at the age of only 4, Javier was gifted a guitar, having watched his father play some years and not long after he was writing his own songs by the third grade. The 23 year-old, Boston, MA native Javier began turning it into a career path amid late adolescence, mastering his strumming and here we are today to put you onto his instrumental noises.
Where he would describe his music as ”a slice of life” for those in the anime realm, to new listeners he says: “it’s just music that would comfort you in your car or on the way to work.” The sounds of songs like “Tímido” & “Keep Me Close” (featuring wonderful Zoe Sparks) are so effervescent yet calm and flowy. Javier caters to that of Spanish speakers with the former title and switches it over on the latter, utilizing his multilingualism. Either way, the music is tasteful and sweet on the ears.
He‘s strongly rooted in his Dominican heritage and his homage to it is a great display of artistic and cultural mesh. John Mayer and the likes of artists as so come to mind when listening honestly, between Javi’s songwriting capability & raspier voice. All the sounds you hear in his songs are attributed to him and his instruments; a multifaceted polyglot he is.
“Cruz” is his latest offering and first of the year as well. It is a feel good soliloquy, however the irony is him hashing out the depreciation of his old Corolla and disdain for it. ““Cruz” is me romanticizing how inconvenient it was to own such an old car, I convinced myself it was a reliable car, but in reality; it wasn’t very reliable.” He wrote the song 3 years ago, but went through a lot of progression over time refining it—like some of the best do.
Future orientation holds a lot more collaborations for Javier and we can expect a project sometime this year—a ballad of these previous singles plus a couple more. His catalog isn’t the deepest, but that will change in due time, since he’s been organically cooking up
