It's starting to feel like live performances are becoming a lost art in music. I'm old enough to remember the days when one bad performance could negatively affect an artist’s trajectory. In my opinion, those days are far gone because fans seem to prioritize music and image now, but it's still good to see an artist like K. Charles who still takes pride in giving fans a memorable experience.
K. Charles passed the ultimate performance test by performing at Rolling Loud. He passed that test with flying colors by putting everyone on notice at RL and giving them a performance of a lifetime. If they were impressed by that, wait til' he gets the chance to perform his newest material on stage. Because recently he released his project, LFC, and it's exactly the type of music to get a crowd pumped.
I have to say it's a very bold move by K. Charles to not include any features on the project, but after one full listen, I can see where's he coming from. This is a project that doesn't have to depend on, or needs features. If anything, the features would have taken away attention from his hard work and knocked the focus of listeners.
Not counting the intro, things kick off with the title track, “LFC”. K. Charles's vocals sound so trippy over the “Megaman”-influenced trap beat. As the great performer he is, you can tell that this track is best suited for a mosh-pit for how lit it is. But you also have a song like “Running Away”, which is filled with raw emotion. The fact that he has the versatility to create multiple songs that are so different on the spectrum, speaks levels about K. Charles's dedication to his artistry.
Making the most of every opportunity he gets, K. Charles will continue to find more success. It may sound cliche, but hard work does pay off. And his newest release is proof he has another level that he can tap into.
