Artist Highlight - L’exquisite Douleur

Coming out of Broward County, band ‘L’exquisite Douleur’ is a pioneer of Florida's emerging emo-rock scene. After forming together in 2019, the band released their first single “A Cure to Poison the World” in February of 2020, and have continuously grown since by doing countless shows, working with Poorstacy, and landing in multiple Spotify editorial playlists.

As of recently, the post-hardcore band released a single titled ‘Vanity’ which has received an incredible amount of positive feedback from fans. The single begins with an alluring guitar riff and drum pattern but then soon switches up to an attention-grabbing vocal introduction featuring screams, and mesmerizing melodies that provide a very authentic emo-rock feel to the listener. Speaking of screams, their single with Poorstacy, “Abuse Me”, that released on April 28th of this year is definitely the ‘heaviest’ work i've heard from Lex, while most of the vocals contain screams, and the instrumental as a whole offers a more hardcore vibe for the listener. This single has since went on to receive over 300k streams on spotify and landed on the editorial playlists “Frequency”, “Sludge”, and “Complete Chaos”.

Fortunately, last August I had the chance to attend an album release concert in West Palm Beach for the hardcore band ‘Afterlife’, and L’exquisite Douleur was the first opener. While L'exquisite did not quite fit in with the other hardcore bands, they put on an extremely memorable performance, showcasing their whole discography at the time, and covering a classic; ‘Smile In Your Sleep’ by Silverstein. Unfortunately, for my first ever Hardcore show I had a concussion and couldnt mosh at all, but Lex had fans

going nuts with their astounding stage presence, while there was constantly someone falling on the floor throughout their entire set. It was truly a concert I won't ever forget, regardless of my concussion.

L’exquisite Douleur is a five man band consisting of; Damien (vocalist), Felipe (lead guitar), Salem (bassist), Aries (drums), and Matheus (rhythm guitar). The band takes inspiration from The Used, Lies For The Liars, and the Three Cheers era My Chemical Romance. With a lot in store, the post-hardcore group is ready to release a new single in the coming months, along with some new merch for fans at shows; ”For new music we got a single coming out soon, probably our most theatrical song to date. We'll also have a new merch drop that will be available at our next couple shows. There's this one really cool Invader Zim rip we made in there lol.” Check out the new extraordinary single below!
