Hailing from the vibrant streets of Washington Heights, 25 year-old LIFEOFTHOM embodies the energy, resilience, and creativity of his Dominican roots. Growing up surrounded by the culture’s rich flavors, both in food and lifestyle, he cultivated a love for storytelling and authenticity that now defines his music. “It’s Dominican BBLs, great bags of sour, and amazing food + hookah,” he shares, painting a vivid picture of his surroundings. For THOM, these elements weren’t just his environment, they became the backdrop for the vision he now channels into his art.
LIFEOFTHOM’s journey into music began a decade ago, fueled by his early love for artists like Fly Lo, Kanye West, and Tame Impala. “Listening to my past influences and just having a love for music in general came together with my vision for the impact I wanted to have on the world,” he reflects. That combination sparked a creative fire that’s been burning ever since, driving him to experiment with sounds and push the boundaries of his craft. Over the years, THOM has honed a style that’s equal parts personal and universal, blending introspection with grooves that move bodies and minds alike.
His latest single, “ROLLS,” shows off that balance. Produced by Gutty and BrokeBoi, the track captures the ebb and flow of life’s ever-changing chapters. “It’s about going with the sway of things,” THOM explains. “When life is rolling over a new page, you just gotta be still and enjoy that shit.” The song came together naturally, born from a studio session with Gutty that marked only their second time working together. The result? A banger that’s both reflective and uplifting, reminding listeners to find peace in life’s transitions.
Another release from back in June that we can't forget about is “COCOTASO,” a collaborative project with Stoic that marked one of his most rewarding creative experiences. “The process was incredible,” he says, recalling how he fasted during Ramadan and traveled to Stoic’s studio in Jersey City to bring the project to life. Their mutual honesty and willingness to critique each other’s work elevated the music. “It’s all about showing up and making really good songs,” he emphasizes.
For THOM, moments of connection with his audience are what make it all worthwhile. Opening for Marlon Craft at a sold-out show in NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge was a career highlight, not just for the packed room, but for the interactions that followed. “At my merch booth, I got rushed so hard. People told me how much I won them over, and I had real conversations with fans on some life shit,” he recounts. That night validated his path, reminding him why he started making music in the first place.
If he could offer advice to his younger self, it’d be simple but profound: “Take your own advice before anyone else’s, kid.” It’s a reminder to trust your instincts, a philosophy that’s served him well as he’s navigated the highs and lows of his decade-long journey. With his raw talent, infectious energy, and unwavering authenticity, LIFEOFTHOM is an artist you may just want to keep a close eye on in 2025!
