Artist Highlight: luvdes

Emanating from the palm trees & bright sun of North Miami, Florida, luvdes has graced the masses with her versatility, advancement, and flourishing sound. Her music grabs ears and attention showcasing her musical prowess, being a dynamic Black female artist whose unique blend of soulful singing and witty raps quickly have earned her a dedicated following.

Though naturally introverted, Des always felt an irresistible connection to music via TV and films. Drawn to the raw emotion and fearless inventiveness of artists like Rihanna and Jhené Aiko, she found herself inspired by their ability to convey strength and vulnerability through their art. In guidance, her own beautiful voice emerges with touches of rap, and lead to the gradual coming out party, sharing her voice with the world.

Many relished her hit track, “sympathy”featuring Jadedf33n, a modest yet vampiric, solo single from a couple years back catered to a sorcerous rhythm. She’s changed her sound a bit since then and grown a lot as a person.

“yes, I’ve recently released my album “DES” and this album is actually very important to me, to me it’s like a stepping stone, like a door opening. I hadn’t released any projects for two almost three years… I always thought no one would listen to it. I feel like this album is 1000x better than my last album , you can see my growth in all aspects from my sound , the quality of my vocals, my lyrics, and melodies.”

And nothing but the truth told here, as “DES” is one of the more impactful collectives released this year. At her young age of 20, she’s clearly garnered ways she can improve and built towards them, noticeable in a short 2-3 year span at that. Tracks like mmu and Tear Me Down invigorate the tracklist with that real R&B people miss, weaving rich melodies and intricate bars. This album brings on nostalgia and twangs of new age all in one: it’s fantastic.

Music has provided the opportunity to help some loved ones out and she seems about her business. She spoke to the importance of individuality:

“…others opinions on you DO NOT MATTER you know yourself, you know what you are so nothing else anyone says about you should have an impact. … stay independent for as long as possible because you make a wrong decision like sign a bad deal with a label or management team and that could be your downfall.”

When she’s not crafting, she’s shopping (totally understand), adding to the ensemble of jewelry and clothing articles, but the family holds near and dear.

“I love love love the people that support and listen to me im so thankful for all of you.” -des
