Having the pleasure to cover hip-hop oriented Shno Xavier this week out of the Bay Area, out West. His musical beginnings however, came by way of Vancouver, British Columbia when he first picked up early utilities like GarageBand. An honest artist he is, estimating he hasn’t quite pin-pointed his sound: “…Genre bending, most indecisive artist of all time, who can I guess, rap a lil bit.”
What he reveals holds true, as he does a bit of harmonizing while simultaneously laying down some thought provoking rhyme patterns. Taking a stem from all the artists he can, the music artistry has become his oyster since he’s been making music for closely a decade unto this point. Nevertheless, he’s pushing his own agenda with an array of beats ranging from hip-hop club hits to bursts of alternative.
“When I make music it’s super fluid. I love making fresh ideas on the spot. It’s a luxury having a studio in my bedroom cause I can record something right then and there rather than waiting to get studio time or whatever.”
It’s been a bit since he’s last dropped a project (specifically dating back to 2019 with his release Swell), however he’s provided some anthems in the mean time. Swell boasts a few good tracks out of a compilation of 10 songs, that including club banger “Throw It Back” and a fascinating take on the song “Wonder Wall” with his own “Pier 47”. His latest track “Deja“ is a fluid, catchy tune as he proclaims “There ya go breaking my heart again”. He even so much as takes a page out of Playboi Carti’s book with some elating samples/ad-libs.
Shno’s passion and growth have only driven him further into the depths of music, noting he hasn’t really utilized time otherwise because he’s so focused. No collaborations in mind, but he loves the “element of surprise”, otherwise the organic nature of the occurrence. He wrapped it up with a message of yet again, honesty, integrated with self love and care: “sometimes the best advice is no advice. I ain’t nowhere near what my ultimate goal is so I can’t provide advice to anybody really. Life wise… just self love fam. Save some love for yourself.” Go run his streams up and start with “Deja” down below!
