Hailing from New Jersey, the 22-year-old Trevmas has been making a name for himself with his witty punchlines and tough flows. As Trevmas releases a new single, you’ll see significant improvement from his previous release.
With that being said, all of his releases have been mind-blowing with his one-of-a-kind beat selections, usually with producer elxnce. Since making music since his sophomore year, Trev has always added his own twist on the digi-core scene, using aggressive flows and distorted beats. Coming off a recently released single titled “Sodium,” it doesn’t look like Trev is slowing down anytime soon.
“A lot of my songs have a chorus that relates to something in my life. This song came after a not so fun battle with pink Whitney on Halloween. Felt like I needed to get my gut checked after. Everything else was really freestyling and flowing with what I think sounded good on the beat.”
From an interview I had recently conducted with Trev, this is about his single “Gut Check", which initiated me to becoming a fan of his music thanks to a good friend of mine named Tony. The low-end melody presented by elxnce matched Trev’s energy perfectly making this the perfect duo. In Trev's own words, his sound is best described as ‘energetic” and/or “fun.” He lets the listener ultimately.
Being a part of a collective named Lockhart has been a stepping stone in his career, being alongside good friends such as Keeta, Jahhlu, Reef, and many others. Trev best describes Lockhart as
“Everyone is so talented and I’m really just blessed to be able to make good music with my friends. At the end of the day that’s what it’s all about. We’re really just a bunch of friends from the scene and I think that adds so much to our music. We already have this built in chemistry.”
Trev has had the opportunity to see his friends such as aldn and midwxst hit the brink of mainstream and that ultimately fuels him. Not far behind them though, it seems as though we can expect a lot from Trev this year as he has a single releasing on the 24th of this month produced by elxnce along with a possible future EP with Funeral.
It seems as though Trev is surrounded by people that want to see him win that also are just as talented as him. The potential that Trev has shown is absolutely insane, surprising though since he is still criminally underrated. I have without a doubt though that his time will come as he stays consistent and has bigger goals for 2023 and beyond.
