Artist Highlight: Walter the Producer

This week we had the pleasure of catching up with Walter the Producer. At just 20 years old, he is turning heads in the music industry. Born and raised on the south shore of Boston, Walter was introduced to music at a young age, learning to play guitar and piano before diving into the world of music production. With influences ranging from DJ Dahi, Madlib, Kanye West, Calvin Harris, and No I.D., Walter's eclectic taste is reflected in his own unique sound. After cracking Logic Pro with his friends at the age 13, he became obsessed with making beats, and now he's taking charge of his music career by releasing his music with his own production.

Walter has been involved in music for most of his life, but it wasn't until last year that he decided to put out his own music. Growing frustrated with sitting on unfinished tracks, he took matters into his own hands, opting for a more independent approach to his music. This decision has allowed him to gain more control over his creative output and ultimately led to the release of his single, "Velma."

"Velma," a personal favorite track of ours was released in February, showcasing Walter's ability to blend a variety of influences and styles. Which has already amassed over 200,000 streams on Spotify alone. The creative process for the track began with a catchy drum loop that inspired Walter to layer his guitar over it. Taking a page from Daft Punk's "Random Access Memories," he also added a bass synth plugin to create a unique beat. The result is a fresh, innovative sound that's quickly garnering attention online.

With big plans for the future, Walter the Producer hopes to continue growing as an artist and producing for others. He has several project ideas floating in the back of his mind and looks forward to collaborating with talented artists. As he puts it, "This is all I wanna do."

Keep an eye out for Walter the Producer, as his unwavering dedication to his craft is sure to bring success and recognition in the coming years!
