Home to some of the most beautiful sights and smells (if you know what I mean), Amsterdam’s own, Blue Otis, has an abundance of experiences having traveled Europe and making a way for himself. Raised in a creative safe-space, artistry has always allured his senses.
With this most recent single, “All My Friends are Hot”, Otis formulates an outside perspective on what he calls to be his own funeral. Expressing his post-humous desires while giving some flowers to friends, he shed some insight into the single.
“I always think of myself as very self-involved. I have the toxic trait of wanting to be the center of attention at all times. In the song I admit I’m scared of my friends and family forgetting about me and no longer paying attention to me if I were to be gone.”
An ego-death, I believe, is synonymous to what the artist is trying to purport; Understanding his defect and addressing it in song. The title boasts a lo-fi feel and peculiar rhythm, as Otis expresses his existential feelings. “All My Friends are Hot” is a soft tune with some hip-hop components and detailed lyricism. Otis’s deposition: “Please don’t wear no turtleneck sweaters to my funeral”.
Enjoy this wonderful track in the mean time, while Otis hinted that he’s prepping for something big...something you all can expect in the near future!
