This 19-year-old singer/songwriter starting to make waves in the Golden State is DOVVYDOTCOM, who recently released his new single “What U Get” the past week. Being involved with music from an early age, this song is a chance to see his talents fully displayed.
The message of “What U Get” is simple, nothing can be sweeter than the taste of revenge. DOVVYDOTCOM’s favorite method of revenge is proving his haters wrong and making them eat their words. “Basically since I started making music and putting myself out there, I find there is always gonna be this group of people that will try to take you down a peg if that makes sense” and they were put in their place with this song.
From start to finish, he does a great job of utilizing imagery in his lyrics and painting the picture for listeners to interpret his situation.
By the time we are halfway through the song and have reached the hook, you are already fully immersed in his world. “People have been asking me if this song is directed at someone because of the obvious angst in the hook, but honestly it's more like a vague amalgam of people/entities.”
