Falling "between the lines" with dev soter

Dev's latest drop "between the lines" is an ode to a band he had been enjoying a lot recently, up in his domain of Boston suburbia. The Strokes, are an American rock band from the eclipse of the 90's, based out of the Big Apple, who have attributed generously towards the cementing of the alternative/indie sound. Dev's whole abstraction going into this project was to craft a song he felt like drew parallels to what The Strokes were able to achieve and if the reviews are any representation; it seems he's done just that.

Soter has been doing his due diligence, honing his artistry up North, steadily dropping gems for us all 2021. His latest piece is a nuance to the last single we received in August, "all up from here". The tone is a bit more slowed while the song, a bit more thought provoking as well. Julian Casablanca, lead singer of The Strokes, was the focal point of portraying the lyrics attempting to curate a form of derivative. It's a taste of sappiness from Dev, reviewing the lyrics, but "not tonight" he tells, assumably not wanting to drown in it.

He spoke about the creative process going into this song, messing around with sounds and synths until one stuck. The grain you hear, as he describes if "he were performing in a massive stadium" is in part to a unique technique of recording with the mic through an amplifier

"Avant-garde rock is what I was sort of go for. Like if Frank Ocean did rock", he laughed. With the help of @thechinablue on the drum-line and @pronouncedlucas on the mix, whom he thanks dearly, Soter has provided a very strong means to an end.

The single is the first off of what he recently has shared with us is to be an EP in the works! He's been chiseling away at discovering his sound and doing so gracefully for the time being. The cover of the single is a dynamic one, done by his beloved manager Tyler Donovan as he has many others for Dev. Expect more soon, 'til then enjoy "between the lines" by Dev Soter. Stream Below!
