Falling Head Over Heals with Summerneverlasts. "Crush"

Summerneverlasts. is a 20 year-old artist hailing from the Bay Area, that has always had a creative spirit. Growing up as the oldest in a protective household, Summer was immersed in a world of Nintendo games and various creative projects, ranging from making gaming videos to constructing elaborate toy train cities. It was during the COVID-19 pandemic, while still in high school, that Summer took a significant leap into the world of music. With school shifting online, the newfound freedom allowed Summer to focus on learning how to write and produce music, transforming what began as a hobby into a serious pursuit.

Music has been a part of Summer’s life since the age of 13, initially with dreams of becoming a rapper. However, after experimenting with GarageBand and quickly realizing that rapping wasn’t the right fit, Summer pivoted to making beats on Logic. Influenced by the DIY of artists like Tyler, the Creator, Summer honed production skills independently. The journey wasn't without its challenges, including bouts of writer’s block and a sense of burnout from working on other people’s projects. This led Summer to reassess and decide to create his own tracks, culminating a batch of new music, including the latest single, "Crush."

"Crush" is a straightforward, feel good track meant to capture the exhilarating feeling of falling for someone. It's the kind of song you’d play while cruising along the beach with friends, carefree and happy. The inspiration came from a rare moment when Summer found themselves head over heels with a crush on someone. The song started as a simple guitar riff and hook during a session with a friend, but Summer initially struggled with the lyrics, feeling they were too corny. However, encouragement from friends helped Summer embrace the simplicity and rawness of the lyrics, resulting in a track that stayed true to its original demo form.
