Jack Boyd’s Musical Journey of Contrast and Reflection In 'Jesus Saves'

For as long as he can remember, Austin, Texas-based musician, Jack Boyd has been surrounded by music. His journey began when he was just 3 years old, and by the time he was 10, he was already writing songs, which is a testament to his deep connection with music. "Music always felt like what I was going to do in some capacity,” Boyd shares. He was raised surrounded by his parents' musical noises, which unavoidably shaped his future.

Boyd defines his sound as "cute but also dark and reflective," a unique combination of contrasting elements. His sound creates an innovative style that speaks to listeners on many levels by combining lovely melodies with existential topics. Rather than drawing solely from other musicians, Boyd finds inspiration in various situations and relationships—things that are difficult to describe in words but come through clearly in his music.

His latest single, "Jesus Saves," is an honest and intimate examination of becoming addicted to drugs during his time spent at a religious summer camp. "The song is kind of an homage to growing up in the South while reflecting on religion and people," Boyd explains. Written and produced entirely from his Texas RV, "Jesus Saves" gives a sneak peek at his next EP, Fiona, what makes you smile?. Boyd asserts, "It's the perfect EP for any mood," promising a blend of catchy tunes and thought-provoking lyrics that will speak to listeners, regardless of where they are.
