2021 was a year of cementing sounds and featured some fantastic music, in tandem. One scene that has absolutely flourished is that of the hyper-pop genre and with accrediting artists as Monty.pk, 2022 looks to be all the better.
“Prism” is the first title he has released in 2022 and an explosive one at that, featuring the legitimized cluster of sounds and frequencies that made for what was a great preface to the song. “I made the first 30 seconds of the song, the verse and the hook, thought it was cool, and posted it to see if other people thought it was cool.” Low and behold, it got great reception and spawned the remaining process of the song.
Monty is no stranger to production, scouring the internet a few years back, picking up on studio software Logic 9. Since, he’s chipped away at the mastery of it & taken production a whole lot more serious which you can hear in the enthused song, although, he remains constant this was just another one of those simple ones. He expanded upon the creation of the song, noting it began with the drums and onward to implementing those cool bass sounds you hear throughout.
He insists there’s no real fun story or direct parallel, more so really just a song to make, while he still remains proud about the product. I certainly think there’s some hopeless romanticism the song boasts when peering into the lyrics which Monty rummaged through his writers journal and was able to piece together. Not to mention the sick cover art done by Tristan Gehin (@temps_triste). Go stream “prism” on all plats & down below!
