Navigating the Ebb and Flow of Emotion Through Music

"Ebb and Flow" by Oranje Space is calm but emotional almost as if to somewhat hold back this

strong wave of emotions.

The EP starts with a ballad that conveys themes of lost and yearning for the touch or comfort of someone . The name of the track and Oranje’s vocals perfectly compliment eachother showing a level of vulnerability as this character is trying to keep their emotions in check having to be strong only to be so close to breaking the swells within the beat as there are many build ups the vocals get louder as Oranje showcases that emotion whilst also being somewhat withheld just enough until there’s a break and release into the chorus where he’s let go and is put all of it out on the table. The chorus is repeated just enough to get the point across some type of big emotion.

Something this EP plays with a lot is where the production may stand some of the songs like

"Cylinder" and "Can't Help Myself". Sounds as if the vocals are more commercially produced while still having a level of emotion and authenticity. But tracks like "Open and Wish You Well" have this level of rawness and emotion like he had a guitar and mic in a bathroom and just let everything out I love the choice in having that throughout the EP it’s reminiscent of articles like Dijon or joji it pulls you in because it’s real it’s raw it lets listeners have a sense of relatability. Out of all the tracks within the ep "Can't Help Myself" has to be the stand out for me the timbre of Oranje’s vocals is constantly pulling me in from the slight rasp within his higher note the subtle runs and the production is simple but so well executed. If you have yet definitely go check out "Ebb and Flow" by Oranje Space.
