NYC, Fashion, and Hyperpop - A first look at Aldrch

We got the chance to have a chat with producer Aldrch, out of Minnesota and pick his brain a bit about a myriad of things from his home to college and entering the industry. Aldrch got his jump on the game pretty much when he recently transferred colleges, around the big city of New York at the Fashion Institute of Technology. He's a man of many talents as he tells us how he picked up the trade of clothing-making and various tailored skills. Not long after, got himself a studio once he made the move from Minneapolis and has been there since then, experimenting with different sounds, at first mostly with hip-hop/trap. New York has since become his second home.

“I had like the home studio setup…ever since I’ve just been spending majority of my time there, trying new things. Trying to make marriages between genres that i’m really inspired by and that I listen to. Just trying to make sh*t that doesn't sound like everything else."

Through this he has discovered a relatively new and upcoming sound to the industry, by the term Hyperpop. It's a such a tantalizing sound, with extreme production paired with mixing and mastering, electronic notes, riffs, noises and often the result is a commingle of beautiful mess. I asked him to tell us a bit about the genre he 'most aligns with' to which he replied:

"It's a term pretty loosely used and thrown around a lot, but it can be implemented in many ways and that's what I like the most about It. I think my favorite thing is how it's genre-less, and how you can apply techniques and sounds, that can be considered staple hyperpop sounds and make it whatever the hell you want."

The songs speak for themselves, offering some of the finest craftsmanship and lucidity, it's almost impossible to not dance. Some of my favorites of his are latest songs "Door Close", featuring kahre, with some great guitar, as well as the song "comingup4air" which presents an assortment of jingles and clashing of sounds, with great lyrics by the poptropicslutz.

Like many producers and engineers alike, when Aldrch is looking to spawn any type of project whether it be an album, EP, etc., he enjoys hosting a number of artists to do the vocals and melodies, while tossing in some of his own appearances at times. He’s been working with a plethora of people (artists and producers included) he tells, including artist Ryan Leahan, who Aldrch has made a little EP with in the past and also has the hit song “My Little” with over 12+ million plays. He’s worked with group poptropicaslutz, and as of late, a lot with good friend and artist kahre.

His 4-5 song EP will be dropping on his Spotify page, which we can expect in August.
