Unveiling the Musical Cosmos behind Ky Abe's latest release 'Asteroid'

Hailing from Orange County, the trio known as Ky Abe brings together the unique talents of vocalist Ky (22), and producers Theo (22) and Kian (21). Their multicultural backgrounds - Ky's Japanese American heritage, Theo's French origins, and Kian's Persian American roots - have added a rich diversity to their creative journey. Raised in households where musical inclinations were prominent, the trio easily found inspiration to venture into music. With influences ranging from death metal to classical piano, their diverse upbringing has contributed to the rich tapestry of their sound.

The trio's musical evolution began when Theo and Ky found themselves crafting songs in their film class, even if the early results were objectively unrefined. Fatefully, Theo crossed paths with Kian over Xbox, and their mutual passion for music production sparked a lasting friendship. Their debut release, "Everything Right," marked the beginning of their collaborative journey. "Asteroid," their latest single, holds a special place in their hearts. Conceived over two years ago, the track's upbeat tempo and striking blend of orchestral strings and synths create a captivating soundscape. Lyrically, "Asteroid" delves into the interplay between past hardships and emerging fears, representing an experimental ode to change and introspection.

Ky Abe's diverse musical influences mirror their backgrounds. Theo's childhood adoration for David Bowie, particularly the iconic "Ziggy Stardust" album, ignited his passion for music creation. Earl Sweatshirt has also been a consistent source of inspiration for him. Kian's introduction to Michael Jackson, particularly the groundbreaking "Thriller" video, left an indelible mark on his musical journey. For Ky, Beast Coast rap groups like Pro Era and Flatbush Zombies fueled his love for writing. Presently, their musical palette is influenced by a range of artists including Daft Punk, Frank Ocean, Carti, Mk.gee, King Krule, and The Weeknd.

Ky Abe's collective journey represents a convergence of cultures and musical preferences, resulting in a dynamic trio that continues to push creative boundaries. With "Asteroid" as a testament to their musical prowess, Ky Abe stands as a beacon of innovative soundscapes and profound storytelling, captivating audiences with their genre-defying approach and meaningful lyricism.
